International Expeditions

At Explorations Academy, it is our mission to help each student discover the potential that lies within themselves and the beauty, diversity, and opportunities that fill our world.  These goals are achieved through our international expeditions.

These trips are not vacations. Each is a unique collection of intentionally designed challenges, curriculum, and experiences focused on expanding students’ perceptions of the world and of themselves.

They are month-long journeys that blend together relevant and meaningful academics and immersive cultural experiences. These trips are facilitated by capable staff who consistently invite students to reflect on the wonder of their experiences, their privileges, and the interconnectedness of human beings across the globe.

International study and service expeditions further underscore our belief that global citizenship is a central part of a 21st Century education.

Our students gain first-hand experience with other cultures, faiths, and world-views, not just as travelers but also as volunteer participants in the society they are visiting, often building lasting friendships with those met abroad.

They gain in character as well as intellect, building flexibility, resilience, compassion, creativity, and maturity.

Some destinations Explorations Academy students and faculty have studied include: India, Peru, Nicaragua, Colombia, Indonesia, Kenya, Ireland, Thailand, Cuba, and Guatemala.

International Trip Fundraising:

While we have always relied upon student-driven fundraisers in the budget for our international trips, this once in a lifetime opportunity would not be possible without your support. You can learn more about our exciting 2017 Mesoamerica trip here: International Trip Overview.

All students are expected to participate in fundraising in order to:

  • facilitate group development among students and leaders prior to the trip;
  • increase student commitment in their learning;
  • make it more affordable for all families.

Messages from Mesoamerica

In gratitude for your support, we look forward sharing stories and details from our adventures with you via a personal postcard from Central America!
